Tutor Terms and Conditions

Effective Date: 5 Jan 2019
Last Updated: 1 July 2024

By registering as a tutor on Home Tuiton Near Me, HTNM (“the Platform”), you agree to the following terms and conditions. Please read them carefully.

1. Who Can Join

To become a tutor, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old.

  • Provide accurate information about your qualifications and experience.

  • Be legally allowed to provide tutoring services in your country.

2. Your Role

You are joining the platform as an independent tutor, not as an employee. This means:

  • You set your own rates and schedule.

  • You’re responsible for your own taxes, tools, and preparation.

  • We do not guarantee any minimum number of students or income.

3. Your Tutor Profile

  • Your profile must be truthful and professional.

  • We may verify your identity, qualifications, or background.

  • We can edit or remove any profile content that is misleading or inappropriate.

4. Your Responsibilities

By using the platform, you agree to:

  • Be punctual and prepared for each session.

  • Communicate respectfully with students and parents.

  • Inform the student in advance if you need to cancel or reschedule.

  • Keep all communications and teaching professional and safe.

5. Bookings and Payments

You are responsible for collecting payments and handling any disputes.

6. Cancellations and No-Shows

Frequent last-minute cancellations or no-shows may lead to your account being suspended or removed from the platform.

7. Reviews and Ratings

  • Parents or students may leave reviews after lessons.

  • You agree to accept feedback professionally.

  • We may remove reviews that violate our content policies.

8. Marketing & Public Showcases

By submitting your profile, photo, introduction video, or conducting free trial lessons, you agree that:

  • We may use your name, photo, video, voice, and lesson clips (if recorded with your knowledge) for marketing purposes.

  • This may include showcasing your teaching on our website, social media, ads, or promotional videos.

9. Use of Platform Materials

If we provide you with teaching materials, lesson plans, slides, assessments, worksheets, or any other proprietary resources, you agree that:

  • These materials are protected by copyright and remain the exclusive property of HTNM.

  • You are granted limited permission to use them only for teaching students assigned through our platform.

  • You may not reuse, redistribute, resell, or modify these materials for use outside the platform.

  • Using our materials for non-platform purposes (including private tutoring or other platforms) is considered a copyright infringement and may result in legal action.

  • If you wish to use our materials independently or outside the platform, please contact us. Licensing options may be available upon request.

10. Privacy & Safety

  • Do not share or misuse any personal information you receive from students.

  • Do not record or publish any lessons without written consent from the student or parent.

  • We take privacy seriously and expect tutors to do the same.

11. Suspension or Removal

We may suspend or remove your account if:

  • You breach these terms.

  • We receive valid complaints about your behavior.

  • You misuse the platform or act in bad faith.

  • We reserve the right to permanently ban any tutor found engaging in harassment, abuse, or threatening behavior — online or offline.

12. Job Matching, Acceptance & Trial Classes

  • Tutors are connected to students based on student or parent preferences, such as subject, level, teaching style, language, budget, schedule, and location.

  • We do not guarantee any job offers or minimum number of students for any tutor. The platform simply facilitates matches based on demand.

  • The final decision lies with the student/parent, not the platform. Please avoid disputing why you were not selected.

  • Tutors have full freedom to accept or reject any job offered through the platform. There is no obligation to take up a job you are not comfortable with.

  • In some cases, a free trial class may be required before the student commits. You will be informed clearly in advance if a trial class is part of the arrangement.

13. Safety and Personal Conduct

  • If you conduct physical/in-person classes, you do so at your own risk and must take steps to ensure your personal safety.

  • You are responsible for taking reasonable precautions to ensure your own safety, such as:

    • Meeting in public or safe spaces (e.g. libraries, cafes, tuition centres).

    • Not attending classes alone in unfamiliar or risky environments.

    • Informing a friend/family member of your class location and time.

  • In any case of sexual harassment, threatening behavior, or discomfort, you have the right to:

    • End the class immediately.

    • Report the incident to us and the authorities if necessary.

  • Home Tuition Near Me is not liable for any injury, personal loss, or misconduct during in-person sessions. We expect both tutors and clients to behave professionally and responsibly.

14. Updates

We may update these Terms from time to time without prior notice. The latest version will always be available on our website.
By continuing to use the platform, you agree to be bound by the updated version of these Terms.
